Most children have a natural enthusiasm for music, but many find it hard to play a real instrument. Award-winning MusicBox 2 was designed to let them explore and make music on a classroom computer without knowing anything about notation. It's just like painting on the screen, except that what comes out is music!
Four easy-to-use self-contained activities encourage pupils to explore sounds, chords and percussion, and to create single- or multi-part compositions. With more than 200 instruments in categories such as percussion, brass, strings and keyboard, the software provides immense scope for creativity and self-expression.
Flexible options allow you to tailor MusicBox 2 to suit individuals or groups on standalone or networked machines, and the pack includes National Curriculum and QCA guidance, ten worksheets, a Handbook and a classroom support booklet.
- Sound Box - experiment with pitch and the way different instruments sound
- Chord Box - investigate the effect of playing notes together, and create chord sequences
- Beat Box - a 'drum machine' that explores percussion in real time on a time-line; visual patterns help understand pulse and rhythm
- Tune Box - sounds, chords and percussion come together here; drag and drop sounds, swap instruments, sppeed up and slow down compositions, edit and save them

"I'm a primary teacher, and Music Box is used in my school. As my son moved up to high school this year, he really misses using this program, and sometimes calls into school to use the suite and play the compositions he has saved. It is an excellent piece of software, so I was really pleased to find your website and purchase a copy for him. It has really helped to develop his confidence in music and composition. I thought you might like a little feed back!" - Christine Duffin (Bury)
"The main aim of MusicBox 2 is to allow children to be musically creative without being disadvantaged by a lack of specific musical knowledge. It is a first-rate resource that meets this aim and is both enjoyable and straightforward to use." - Music Teacher Magazine
"MusicBox 2 is a fun, relevant resource. The publishers clearly understand how ICT can be used to provide an environment for young musicians to explore certain aspects of music that might be difficult without technical skills on traditional instruments." - TEEM Click here for more...
"MusicBox 2 (Topologika) and Music Explorer (RM) are two good composing packages for children, and both can be used with children as young as Key Stage 1. But which is better? Personally, I'd definitely go for MusicBox 2." - Sir Robert Hitcham's Primary School Click here for more...
