Words & Music Goes Marching On! Even though Topologika Software's Words & Music was runner-up for a 2007 BETT Award, the development team hasn't just sat back and admired its work. Since the release of this Sibelius challenging innovative lyric and notation pack last year, Topologika has welcomed feedback from users and has now released a brand new version (1.06). As well as some minor usability improvements the new version can now save pupils' work not just as .MIDI, .WAV and .XML but now also as .MP3 files. This makes it really easy to showcase compositions on school websites or play them on mp3 players. Another new feature that will please some teachers is the ability to turn off the notation which is usually visible at the top of the Paper screen if children find it daunting or distracting. V1.06 also includes 35 Lesson Ideas and accompanying activity files, together with 25 more worksheets, all designed to provide inspiration for Key Stage 3 and above, these being in addition to the 24 already supplied. Existing owners of Words & Music can request an upgrade CD from Topologika for just £10+VAT or get it free if they simultaneously upgrade their licence.
